There is nothing more frustrating when you're trying to reply to someone set on Offline or DND! The status message will be fine, as long as it doesn't spam the sender's window. The whisperer should only get a message once every time the other person hear's the "ding" sound if you get what I'm saying. For example, if I get a whisper from someone I hear the ding sound, then it stops until there is a pause between whispers. The warning message should function in the same way.

/signed for a msg saying they're dnd/offline when they try to whisper someone
/notsigned for auto-changing status
It would be helpful if a lot of traders realized they were on offline status when trying to sell things too -.-

Honestly though, I think they should make it so you can't send whispers if you can't recieve whispers.

/signed only if I get the message once, on the first time they message me. If it were every time, someone could spam someone on DnD and they'd get a bunch of spam messages.

I do however think if YOU whisper someone while you have offline/DND active, you should get a little message "Player X will be unable to respond because your online status is set to Offline/Do Not Disturb".

Mind you I want to abuse those fools while I'm selling in Spamadan...
"WTB X"
*Whisper* "I has."
*This user is set to offline.*

I think this is a very practical Idea
But being able to be whisped while you are set to DnD is definitely a no here, I feel it makes DnD pointless =/

several of you are misinterpreting what was suggested.
The suggestion works like this: Offline guy's window-
Player offering trade: WTS Gwen's Broken Flute 40k.
Offline guy: He, I want to buy your trade item, where you at?
Announcement: Player offering trade will not be able to respond to you as you are offline.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Player offering trade's window:
Player offering trade: WTS Gwen's broken flute 40k.
Offline guy: HE, I want to buy your trade item, where you at?
Player offering trade: Next to merchant.
Announcement: Offline guy is not online.
---------------------------------------------------------------
the only change in announcements is in the window of the player that is set to offline and initiating a whisper. The receiving player gets no message about Offline guy being offline until the respond, as usual.
It's a good suggestion for a heads up to those that may have been away and returned only to forget they reset their status.

/signed for this idea, it really seems like the best alternative that would avoid abuse.

VERY annoying situation. The only kindofwayaround I've found, is to invite the 'offline' player to my guildhall, that sometimes sparks an awareness. Definitely something that's been overlooked for too long.

Best option would be if you are unable to receive a whisper because you are DND or similar status, then you are unable to send a message at all.
I don't want a message about their status after I take the time and trouble to answer them, I should know before so I know not to bother.
